PRP Treatments

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is blood (“plasma”) containing a high number of platelets. Platelets contain growth factors, which are naturally-produced compounds found in the body.

What does PRP actually do?

The growth factors found within PRP enhance collagen and elastin production, which play a key role in resurfacing the skin.

PRP can be applied topically during a microneedling treatment or injected directly into the skin or underlying tissue.

When we inject PRP into a specific area, we can harness the body’s natural healing powers to treat a wide variety of concerns, including:

Microneedling and PRP

When PRP is applied topically during a microneedling treatment, it can dramatically increase the treatment’s capacity to resurface acne scars, surgical scars, hyperpigmentation, and skin texture irregularities.

What are PRFM growth factors?

PRFM growth factors are naturally produced compounds found in your body. PRFM growth factors are extracted from your blood cells and used to stimulate your body’s natural healing processes. With our advanced therapy treatments, the blood is purified to its highest levels using the Selphyl® process. This is when growth factors become highly concentrated. A higher concentration means greater healing benefits to your body.

Once the PRFM is concentrated, it is heated into a thick gel called BioFiller, otherwise known as EZGel. Compared to synthetic hyaluronic acid, EZGel adds more volume to the face, making it a “natural dermal filler” option for improving texture and reducing facial hollowness.

The PRP Process

How PRP / PRFM is created

01.

A licensed medical professional draws a small vial of your blood (called “plasma”)

02.

A centrifuge separates the platelets from the rest of the plasma sample

03.

That platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is then applied topically or directly injected

Signature Undereye Revival with PRFM EZGel

EZGel is created by heating your PRP, which causes it to thicken into a gel-like consistency. It is then injected under the skin, where it works to stimulate cell growth and regenerate aging tissue.

We often use EZGel to restore subtle volume and not-so-subtle radiance to the under-eye area.

EZGel treatments are uniquely designed to fully optimize the natural healing powers of the body. In this hour-long treatment, you will receive a relaxing face mask under an oxygen dome in order to prep the skin and improve circulation before injecting the treatment area.

PRP Hair Restoration

When injected into the scalp, PRP can stimulate hair growth by:

  • Activating dormant follicles
  • Increasing the thickness of the hair shaft
  • Increasing blood supply to the hair follicle
  • Decreasing hair loss and shedding

As long as the underlying cause of hair loss is addressed, PRP can improve hair loss of any kind, including male/female pattern baldness, alopecia, and postpartum or hormonal hair loss.

Our Hair Restoration treatments also incorporate Nutrafol – clinically-tested and physician-formulated hair growth supplements – to further support your hair growth journey.

Frequently asked questions

PRP injections promote collagen and elastin production, which can have a wide range of benefits, depending on the treatment area and concern.

In general, PRP face injections can improve the skin’s texture, tone, pigment, and overall appearance, as well as treat loose, sagging, and wrinkled skin.

Most patients require 3-4 sessions of PRP injections, spaced every 6 to 8 weeks. After this initial phase, most patients need just 2 annual maintenance sessions.

Most patients continue to see the benefits of their PRP injections for 6-9 months.

EZGel provides temporary volume and encourages the body to generate more of its own growth factors in the areas where it’s injected, which are essential for skin rejuvenation.

While we often like to substitute EZGel for traditional dermal filler in the under-eye area, they are not interchangeable products. EZGel subtly boosts volume where it’s injected, but it’s not going to provide you with the structural or volume changes that dermal filler can.

Platelet-rich plasma for hair loss can improve the appearance of hair loss regardless of the cause, including male/female pattern baldness, alopecia, postpartum or hormonal hair loss, or dandruff/dry scalp.

However, PRP injections cannot prevent hair from shedding if the underlying issue is not addressed.

Results can be seen in as few as 4 weeks following your first treatment, with full results within 6-8 weeks after completing a series of treatments.

In most cases we recommend annual maintenance treatments to keep up with hair growth and fullness.

As long as the underlying reason for hair loss is addressed, the once-dormant hair will follow its natural growth cycle indefinitely.

We will numb your scalp before your treatment to ensure that you are comfortable. Our patients report that the discomfort is mild. Your scalp may feel sensitive for 24-48 hours.

Mild redness and swelling at the injection site is expected, and your scalp may feel sensitive for 24-48 hours post-treatment.

For the first 24 hours following your treatment, do not wash your hair, sweat excessively, or apply hair styling products of any kind.
