Boston’s Favorite Cosmetic Enhancement is Lip Fillers!

Lip fillers are amazing because they provide instant gratification! It’s a total joy to walk out of the office with a new set of plump gorgeous lips. It’s incredibly important to choose a provider recommended by a trusted source. Consider a few aesthetic nurses to consult with before jumping into lip fillers.

ALDA Aesthetics stand out as a trusted provider, because we will always be honest about safe and appropriate treatments for their patients. ALDA will never fill lips to simply “fill” a lip. Considering each patient’s aesthetic goal, ALDA providers administer dermal filler to deliver natural appearing or fully augmented lips.

Expert pre and post care guidelines ensure patients know what to expect and how to care of their new lush lippies. ALDA offers a gentle hand, increased comfort through the use of Cannula and numbing, and precision delivery. Their injections are by providers with expert credentials to back up our training. ALDA is led by one of Massachusetts most highly credentialed nurse injectors, Alyssa D’Arcy RN, BSN, CANS. A Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialists is co-owner of ALDA Aesthetics. There are less than 15 Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialists (certified by the Plastic Surgical Nursing Certification Board) in the state of Massachusetts.

All the lip magic takes place in a clean, safe environment with emergency protocols to address and prevent any potential adverse events.

How Does ALDA Determine your Perfect Lip?

As educated and highly trained injectors our providers work with patients to enhance their natural lip shape. Our goal is to artistically enhance the natural lip shape without distorting it. ALDA encourages patients to bring in pictures of their younger self to their consultation, so we can see how their lip shape once was. For some younger patients who are seeking more volume or lip enhancement we encourage a picture of their “ideal’ lip. However, we are often educating these patients on slowly building towards a larger lip so it’s a natural progression and safer for the patient.

What Does Boston’s Best MedSpa Use for Lip Injecting?

To get that pout ALDA administers injections using cannula and dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are comprised of Hyaluronic Acids that add volume to the skin and lips where there is a loss of collagen, elastin, and your own naturally occurring HA. ALDA specializes in the most sought-after products including JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® researched, formulated, and produced by the leading pharmaceutical companies.

According to Healthline and backed by JUVÉDERM® and our experts at ALDA, “JUVÉDERM® works by adding volume to the facial tissue through its active ingredient, hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the human body. It stimulates the production of the connective tissue that plumps the skin (collagen). As we age, the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen decreases. These losses increase the appearance of fine lines, sagging, deflation, and wrinkling of the facial skin.”

About 10 years ago, “the only lip plumping option out there was collagen,” says Huda Beauty. Now Hyaluronic acids are most popular and beauty bloggers and aesthetic experts alike are loving the new technology. A dermal filler gel, like JUVÉDERM®, is injected into lips binding with water to hydrate and plump your lips better than ever before!

Do Lip Injections Hurt?

Patients feel a pinch. To increase comfort our nurse will use ice, lidocaine numbing cream or injections. You will continue to numb during the injections, because each filler product is combined with a bit of lidocaine. Our patients love that ALDA provides many numbing options including topical numbing cream or lip blocks to provide optimal comfort for an essentially pain free experience.

How to Avoid a Fake Looking Lip?

Seek a highly trained injector who is credentialed and continuously seeks educational trainings. Also, an injector who knows how to manage complications. This is a specialized medical procedure and should be treated as such.

Unnatural looking lip are a result of injections into areas that are too superficial or too deep, leading to lumps, bumps, or a completely distorted lip shape. Too much filler can be easily displaced and bleed up into the upper lip making the upper lip look heavy and unnatural. Often, we will advise to dissolve the filler and start over.

The golden ratio for the perfect lips has been used since Da Vinci’s time and has been applied to describe the classic proportions of the lips relative to the rest of the face. In youthful Caucasians, the ideal ratio of the vertical height of the upper lip to that of the lower lip is 1:1.6.

What to Expect After Treatment?

This is a medical treatment and lip tissue is very thin and delicate. Patients experience swelling and bruising during the first 24-48 hours (or often less).

Patients should avoid a small list of things after treatment:

  • Dental procedures for 2 weeks before and after lip injections.
  • Working out or any physical activity that may cause facial flushing or inflammation for 24 hours post procedure.
  • Electric toothbrushes for up to 14 days.
  • Avoid oral sexual contact for up to 14 days to prevent product displacement.

There are a few tricks patients can do pre-injections to minimize the risk of bruising:

  • Drink Pineapple Juice daily for a few days prior to injections.
  • Arnica tablets are a homeopathic option that some patients find works well.
  • Avoid Aspirin/Ibuprofen/Fish oils/turmeric/alcohol for a few days prior to injections.

Follow up care for some lip maintenance depends on each patient’s lip goals. You can get lip hydration done subtly every 4-6 months. When you achieve the perfect lip, come for maintenance every 6-8 months.
